MASON REPLACES FULBROOK AT HOCKENHEIM

A bad back has cost Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup Champion Joe Fulbrook his chance of glory in this weekend’s Scirocco R Cup race at Hockenheim. Joe had been due to represent Britain at the season-closing event but has been forced to stand aside; his AWM/Warranty Direct team-mate Aaron Mason will instead take the wheel.

Said Joe: “I’m gutted but I’ve tweaked my back and I know from past experience that I’ll do further damage if I try to race. Aaron came out to Germany with me and he’s the 2013 champion, and he raced here last year himself, so he’s the perfect guy to deputise.” Mason finished 14th in last year’s Scirocco finale.

Joe’s prize drive was his reward for clinching outright victory in the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup; the 43-year-old from Berkshire secured his third crown last month in a tense final round at Donington Park.

Mason will test the Milltek Sport-backed Scirocco today, with qualifying on Saturday morning with the race, to be streamed live via www.volkswagen-motorsport.com , due off at 1610 UK time.
